Ford Focus ST Production Has Officially Ended in Europe
While it survived an extra generation in Europe, Ford has now officially put an stop to the party, ending production of another hot hatch.

When Ford announced that Europe would be getting another generation of both the Focus and the Fiesta after both models were unceremoniously killed off in North America, it felt as if they could stick around for eternity. The last Focus ST sold in the United States was a spitfire that muscled out 252 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Zero to 60 mph was achievable in the low-six-second range, and it took corners with the best of them.
When the 2019 car arrived for Europe, it did so after undergoing a transformational growth spurt. The fourth generation was simultaneously much more muscular and much more grown-up. Instead of plodding along with the same turbo 2.0-liter, Ford dropped in a detuned version of the Focus RS’s 2.3-liter that made 276 horsepower. Changes didn’t stop there, with the Focus ST gaining a new torque-vectoring differential and fiddling with the ride.
After driving the car in 2019, we came away with one key takeaway: the Focus ST’s biggest problem was one of availability. We couldn’t get our hands on it in the United States. Unfortunately, that problem now extends to everyone, save for cars on the used market. Here’s to keeping more hot hatches around.

Porsche is giving us our first look at the interior of the upcoming Cayenne Electric, which will make its full debut in the not-so-distant future. Just like with the gas-fed Cayenne, a dashboard loaded with screens is mandatory, though Porsche will let customers decide if they want their front-seat passengers to have a third screen all to themselves.
The driver faces a set of configurable digital gauges, and there are various touch controls around the outer edge of the curved screen. In the middle of the dash, there’s a 12.9-inch OLED touchscreen, which sits below a narrow air vent; a pair of vertically oriented vents bookend the dash itself. When equipped with the optional 14.9-inch passenger display, the dash becomes a spectacle of Porsche’s latest technology. The Cayenne EV’s contoured three-spoke steering wheel will be familiar to modern Porsche drivers. It maintains physical buttons and rollers for certain controls, and a rotary drive-mode selector sprouts from the lower right section.

Below the center screen is what Porsche calls the “Ferry Pad.” It’s an area where the user can rest their palm and help stabilize their hand when operating the myriad touch functions. The photo above also shows a set of toggle switches for changing the climate system’s fan speeds and temperatures. We also spot a physical roller for adjusting the stereo’s volume.
A long console extends beneath the center stack, providing space and cubbies to store small items. The photos above also show off some of the new Cayenne’s ambient interior lighting, which includes an illuminated strip that signals when the EV is charging or when a drive mode is changed. It can also welcome passengers when they enter the vehicle.
Along with the ability to communicate the status of certain driver-assist features, the interior lighting elements play a part in what Porsche is calling “Mood Modes.” These curated settings make their debut on the Cayenne Electric. When selected, they activate different cabin functions, including sounds from the stereo, ambient lights, onscreen animations, and even seating positions.

Porsche says rear-seat passengers have access to power-adjustable sliding and reclining settings, and the cushions can be had with heated and ventilated functions. With the rear seats stowed, Porsche says the Cayenne’s cargo space grows from 20 to 56 cubic feet. And no matter what position the seats are in, there’s a sliding panoramic sunroof that can transition between clear and opaque at the push of a button. Plus, the glass is divided into nine sections that can be individually adjusted.

Jeep Recalls 123K Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers with Window Trim Issue

Jeep is recalling 123,396 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said. According to recall documents, the issue revolves around rear quarter-window trim that may detach from the car, creating a potential hazard for other drivers. The recall population includes specific Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models from the 2022 through 2024 model years. The recall documents show that during the manufacturing process, the rear quarter trim pieces may have been produced without the proper clear primer application, allowing them to fall off the car. Jeep says 9 percent of the total recall population is expected to have the defective window trim.
The automaker is aware of more than 1700 warranty claims, three customer assistance claims, one field report, and more than 40 other service records it thinks may be associated with the issue. At the time of the recall, Jeep wasn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to the trim defect.
According to the NHTSA documents, Jeep is still developing a solution to the problem. The company plans to notify dealers in early October, with initial owner notification planned between November 14 and November 19. Once it develops a solution, the automaker will reach out to owners again, informing them of the next steps. Owners concerned about whether their vehicle is included in the recall can check NHTSA’s recalls site.
