How Much Is the 2026 Toyota GR Corolla?

Key Points:

  • The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla gets a stiffened structure that improves handling and steering feel.
  • A new air intake helps manage engine temperature.
  • The mid-grade Premium trim has been dropped for 2026.
  • The GR Corolla starts at $41,115 (all prices include $1,195 destination charge).

An automaker’s annual updates to a vehicle can tell you a lot about the team behind the car and its status within the company. Appearance packages drum up a little excitement to maintain sales momentum, and technology upgrades are necessary to keep products fresh, but it’s often the invisible enhancements that identify a true passion project.

Such is the case with the 2026 Toyota GR Corolla, which looks the same as the 2025 model and doesn’t boast any new connectivity capabilities or active-safety functions. But its structure is reinforced with an additional 45.6 feet of adhesive, which Toyota says improves body rigidity for higher-fidelity steering and handling, and a new secondary air intake duct helps maintain optimum underhood temperatures. These sorts of in-the-weeds engineering changes are hard to build a marketing campaign around, but they speak to hardcore buyers like those Toyota courts with the GR Corolla.

Trim Levels

The base GR Corolla rides on gloss-black 18-inch wheels and features LED front lighting and keyless entry and starting. It’s upholstered in synthetic leather and boasts aluminum pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging, six speakers, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The uplevel GR Corolla Premium Plus gets a matte-black finish for its 18-inch wheels, plus a carbon-fiber roof and an additional radiator for better temperature control on track. Inside, the red stitching replaces the base trim’s gray, and there are heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display and a nine-speaker JBL audio system.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every 2026 GR Corolla. This tech suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control (on vehicles with the automatic transmission), lane-centering steering, road-sign recognition and automatic high beams. Front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

Key to the 2026 GR Corolla’s appeal is its engine, not just for its high output (300 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque), but for its unusual configuration: It’s a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder. Triple-cylinder engines are increasingly common today, but they’re rarely relied upon in high-performance applications. A six-speed manual transmission is standard in the GR Corolla, and an eight-speed automatic is available for an additional $2,000 on both trim levels. All-wheel drive with limited-slip front and rear differentials is standard.

Toyota says the GR Corolla returns the same EPA-estimated 21/28/24 mpg city/highway/combined with the manual transmission and 19/27/22 mpg with the automatic as the 2025 model (official EPA ratings for 2026 are not yet available).

More Powerful, Longer-Range 2026 Subaru Solterra Priced From $39,945

By Jared Gall

September 25, 2025

Sharesubaru solterra 2026 exterior oem 02 jpg2026 Subaru Solterra | Manufacturer image

Key Points:

  • The 2026 Subaru Solterra is more powerful than the 2025 model, with range improving by more than 25%.
  • Pricing hardly changes for the new model year, with the 2026 Solterra starting at $39,945 (all prices include $1,450 destination charge).

Just three model years after its debut, the Subaru Solterra is getting a major overhaul. The electric SUV’s basic structure is mostly unchanged, but the styling is improved, the battery provides significantly improved range, and a new powertrain for the XT trims generates nearly 60% more horsepower than the 2025 model’s. We have already driven the refreshed 2026 Solterra (you can read all about our first drive here), and now we know what it will cost: The substantially improved 2026 Solterra’s base price is just $30 more than the 2025 model’s at $39,945.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 Subaru Solterra will go on sale later this fall. Full line pricing is as follows:

  • Premium: $39,945
  • Limited: $42,845
  • Limited XT: $44,345
  • Touring XT: $47,005

Trim Levels

The Solterra’s entry-level Premium trim rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and features keyless entry and starting, LED front lighting, heated side mirrors, roof rails and a power liftgate. It earns its Premium designation inside, where you’ll find synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, two wireless phone chargers, and a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite is standard on every 2026 Solterra and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, emergency steering assist, front cross-traffic alert, traffic-jam assist, front parking sensors and road-sign recognition. Blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

To that, the Limited adds 20-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a Harman Kardon audio system. The only difference between the Limited and the Limited XT is the latter’s higher-output electric motors.

At the top of the Solterra lineup, the Touring XT includes a panoramic moonroof, radiant lower-body heating for front-seat occupants, ventilated front seats and a rearview mirror camera that provides a clear view aft even if the driver’s line of sight is obscured by passengers or cargo. The Limited trims and Touring XT also include a 360-degree camera.

Powertrain Specs and Range

Unlike its Toyota bZ twin, the 2026 Solterra comes with standard all-wheel drive. Dual motors, one driving each axle, produce a combined 233 hp in the Premium and Limited trim levels. The more powerful motors in the XT trims generate a total of 338 hp; they cost an extra $1,500 on the Limited XT and are standard on the Touring XT.

With a 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack, the Solterra Premium can travel up to 288 miles on a charge, according to Subaru, while the Limited and the XT trims are good for 278 miles (official EPA estimates for 2026 are not yet available). For comparison, the 2025 model topped out at an EPA-rated 227 miles of range. Now capable of charging at up to 150 kilowatts, the 2026 Solterra can replenish its battery from 10% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes.

2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Review: Modest Changes, Modest Results

By Conner Golden

Key Points in This Review:

  • Updates for the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross subcompact SUV are minimal.
  • The biggest change is a new front grille and a larger optional infotainment screen.
  • The Corolla Cross’ gas-only and gas-electric hybrid powertrains are unchanged.

We’ll keep this short and sweet — the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross is only mildly refreshed for the new model year, and it’s up to you if these changes are worth the modest price increase versus the 2025 model.

Externally, there’s a revised front end for both gas-only and gas-electric hybrid models, with the latter seeing the biggest visual zhuzh-up with its grille lattice now of a body-colored hexagonal motif and looking modestly sharp in the new Cavalry Blue paint color. There’s also a new available 18-inch wheel design in a choice of two finishes.

Inside, the center console has been reworked with a new gear selector and updated charging pad both for improved ergonomics and to bring it more in line with the rest of the Toyota lineup. A new 10.5-inch infotainment touchscreen is available as either an upgrade or standard kit, depending on the trim, with an 8-inch touchscreen still standard.

Other than a fresh Portobello brown upholstery option, that’s it. Yes, really really. Every single bit of the mechanical stuff was left alone, meaning both Corolla Cross variants utilize the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine adapted from the regular Corolla sedan. The standard gas-powered version wrings an unchanged 169 horsepower and 150 pounds-feet of torque from this buzzer, whereas the hybrid’s extra electric motors zap this to 196 hp total.

You’ve still got your choice of front- or all-wheel drive for the gas model and standard AWD for the hybrid, though the hybrid’s system uses a rear electric motor instead of the gas-only model’s mechanical setup. And hybrid or not, you still have a continuously variable automatic transmission.

How Does the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Drive?

  • Takeaway: Due to no mechanical changes, the updated 2026 Corolla Cross drives largely the same as before.

Correct! It sure does drive the same as before. How’d you know!? Anyway, it’s the same story we’ve recounted in our prior Corolla Cross coverage; the 2.0-liter’s reasonable power is a notch above adequate in front-drive guise and miserable with AWD. With just one dude in the car, the FWD gas Corolla Cross was absolutely fine for standard commuting activities, merging on standard-length on-ramps right at medium highway speeds if you absolutely cane it. As is the case with all entry-level four-cylinders across the industry, the 2.0-liter’s not giving up the 169-hp goods without a sensorial fight. It’s loud, thrashy and harsh when you squeeze it like a juiced orange, but it’s a clear step up from the base powertrain in the Subaru Crosstrek and what’s in all Honda HR-Vs. When not stepping on its neck, however, it’s a reasonably inert powertrain for pootling around town.

How Does the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Ride, and How Fuel-Efficient Is It?

  • Takeaway: It rides and drives surprisingly well, and manufacturer-estimated gas mileage is strong for the Corolla Cross Hybrid at 42 mpg combined — considerably better than the AWD gas-only model’s 30 mpg combined.

That’s with just this lonesome fella at the wheel. If you need AWD or haul more than one additional passenger (or a big-ass dog) more than once in a while, the hybrid, with its juicier 196 hp and (modest) low-end torque-fill, should be your choice. It’s not meaningfully quieter apart from its low-speed electric-only operation, but it is a medium step up in motivation and a dimensional leap in efficiency.

It still rides and handles reasonably well, too, with the SUV having a sporting character. Its burden is daily mundanity, but you’ll never have a rotten time when the way turns unexpectedly squiggled, with better-than-necessary body control and quick turn-in. More importantly, the Corolla Cross still rides just fine, though body motions can be busy at times.

How Is the Interior of the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross?

  • Takeaway: Materials are somewhat cheap, and space might be an issue for larger passengers.

Interior space is as it was before, and though this 5-foot-11-inch author had no problem with comfort, sitting behind my driving position for an extended journey would be a bit cramped. I dig the new 10.5-inch infotainment screen (shared with the Corolla sedan), but I still get frustrated with the infotainment interface’s lack of a home button and bare-bones-to-a-fault layout. Still, it was easy enough to use, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is the digital architecture of choice anyways.

The biggest issue I had was the Corolla Cross’ extensive use of cheap interior materials. It’s certainly an affordable car and doesn’t need Lexus-lite hardware, but patches of rough-cut plastic edges and a ridiculously cheap-looking headliner in my well-optioned XLE and XSE test cars were unpleasant standouts.

But again, none of this should come as a surprise — this is just a mid-cycle refresh, as the car’s not significantly different than it was before. Some new style and better ergonomics for 2026? Sure, why not. I’ll take mine as a hybrid in Cavalry Blue.
