Lexus Reveals New Hybrid Flagship LX 700h SUV
For years, the Lexus LX, alongside its Toyota Land Cruiser counterpart, has stood as the luxury icon’s flagship SUV. Now, the Toyota Land Cruiser has changed from a luxury off-roader to a smaller, more rugged variant, and the Lexus LX stands alone in the United States market as the flagship luxury SUV between Lexus and Toyota. Introduced a few years ago as a bold new Lexus flagship, the latest LX features available executive rear seating, updated powertrains, and more.
However, Lexus hasn’t stopped there. The new Lexus LX 700h is a hybrid variant of the new LX, serving as a more powerful and even more luxurious pinnacle to Lexus’ robust SUV lineup. Adding hybrid power to the twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine in the Lexus LX 600, the LX 700h introduces a nickel-metal hydride battery, bringing the total power to 457 horsepower and 583 lb/ft, compared to the LX 600’s 409 horsepower and 479 lb/ft of torque. The introduction of the latest Lexus hybrid means the iconic luxury brand now offers 12 electrified models.

Lexus’ flagship SUV gets even better.
For 2025, the Lexus LX is offered in five grades: Premium, F SPORT Handling, Luxury, Ultra Luxury, and the new Overtrail, the rugged, off-roading-oriented trim introduced on the recently redesigned Lexus GX. Overtrail includes electronically locking front and rear differentials and looks that suggest its abilities as a serious off-roader.
As part of the LX 700h’s off-roading-oriented appeal, the hybrid system introduces motor-driven power to the low range, a first for Lexus. Off-roading scenarios requiring precise throttle control can be handled with motor-only driving, adding even more confidence to off-road adventures. Featuring both an alternator and a starter as standard components, another Lexus hybrid first, means that the LX 700h is still able to operate with only the combustion engine in the event that the hybrid system is inoperable.
With a new powertrain and a new off-road oriented trim level, the new 2025 Lexus LX takes the incredible flagship SUV from Japan’s luxury titan and makes it even better. The new hybrid Lexus LX 700h brings hybrid innovation, luxury driving character, and off-road excellence to the forefront.
