2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Review: Atmospheric Entry (Level)

Is the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster a Good Sports Car?

  • You’ll be hard-pressed to find a two-seat convertible sports car that blends as much character, class, style and stonkin’ performance as the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.

How Does the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Compare With Other Sports Cars?

  • In the Vantage’s world, it’s the same as it ever was. With a competition field filled with back-roads weapons like the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, Corvette Z06 and Mercedes-AMG GT, the Aston Martin stands out with wicked good looks and enough performance to match any of them.

When you weren’t looking, Aston Martin got serious — really, really serious. The last time a British automaker buckled down as hard as Aston’s folks have over the past few years, we got the McLaren 720S, and that was a triumph. The 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is also a triumph both mechanically and existentially, if not only for the marque’s clear intent on bringing the winged badge back to the forefront of performance.

We here at Cars.com usually refrain from discussing much about a car’s styling — it’s a very subjective thing to arbitrate on — but my goodness! The refreshed Vantage is easily one of the best-looking things I’ve seen on the road in quite some time, and it makes it all look so easy. It also makes you wonder how the prior iteration left the cutting floor with that controversial shark snout and featureless grille that all looked a bit underwhelming, especially with its narrow-profile headlights.aston martin vantage roadster 2026 09 exterior rear angle jpg2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, rear angle | Cars.com photo by Conner Golden

“Underwhelming” is the last thing an Aston should ever be, and the new front end and musclebound proportions fix every stylistic issue. Other than a new egg-carton-style grille and a set of more traditional headlights, the bottom portion of the car below the grille is now painted, neatly fixing its predecessor’s severe underbite and bringing us full circle back to that signature gawping-catfish grille that’s defined the brand for over 70 years now. This is the best the baby AM has looked in years, and this is especially true when you drop that electrically operated top, an operation that takes a shockingly scant 6.8 seconds — or, quicker than most new cars will hit 60 mph.

What Engine Does the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Have?

That’s no such problem in the Vantage. The Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 also returns, only now with around 153 extra Brit-bred horses from before, with “base” output at a mighty 656 horsepower and tire-thwonking 590 pounds-feet of torque. Any Aston engineer reading this likely just chucked their spanner; brand reps and program managers on hand at the Roadster’s drive program in Palm Springs, Calif., made it clear just how far removed the Vantage’s new heart is from the old AMG engine.

In fact, they were rather dour on the prior Vantage as a whole, citing how relatively “restrained” its performance and on-road character was. (Uh, fellas: I drove the prior V-8-powered Vantage on three separate extended occasions, and at no point was that 503-hp, 505-pounds-feet supercoupe remotely restrained.) In the spirit of all Astons from that renaissance era of forced-induction power, the last Vantage was a torque-‘n’-turbo-forward brute in a suit that chased the likes of a Carrera GTS or Corvette Grand Sport down the mountain and beat them to a pulp at the valet stand.

This new Vantage? Its 656 hp means you’re now up the soot chute of a 911 Turbo or Corvette Z06 with zero chance of those California Camrys getting the last upfront spot at valet. This wasn’t a case of simply turning up the boost, either; Aston claims a new block, turbochargers, induction, runners, heads and electronic control unit are among the changes.

This is all part of this “seriousness” I mentioned earlier. Talking to the Aston reps, looking at the current product offensive and driving the latest metal — the boutique British automaker is taking leaps, not incremental steps, toward improvement. Whether this is due to Chairman Lawrence Stroll’s ongoing effort to reshape and restore the brand’s prestige or the fruits of an ongoing evolution sowed earlier, it’s working.

How Nice Is the Interior of the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster?

Forget the power for a moment. Even without touching that crystalline start button on the center console, you’ll notice the new Vantage’s interior is lovely and detail-oriented. It’s an effective port-over of the larger DB12’s cockpit complete with the same fabulous controls, slim steering wheel, shift paddles, center infotainment screen and digital driver display. These last two bits are crucial; compared with the Mercedes-based system in the prior car, Aston’s newest digital architecture is quick, intuitive, lean and stylistically elegant. All of this comes in a flush dashboard display that no longer looks like a tacked-on afterthought.

That volcanic V-8 is also a carryover from the DB12 even if the engineers are quick to point out crucial differences between tune profiles. The larger, heavier, four-seat DB’s 671 hp is 15 hp more than the Vantage offers, but its thick 590 pounds-feet of torque is unchanged. Also unchanged is the mechanical guts of the ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission, though the Vantage’s shift software is focused more on performance and tactility than the long-legged grand-touring blend of the DB.

According to Aston, you must contextualize the Vantage as a pure, focused sports car, not as a lush, high-performance grand tourer in the DB12 and Vanquish mold. The rich leather and fine cabin appointments mean it possesses GT properties, but the automaker imagines customer crossover with the 911 GT3 and Ferrari Roma, not the Bentley Continental GT.aston martin vantage roadster 2026 16 interior steering wheel jpg2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, interior | Cars.com photo by Conner Golden

How Is the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster to Drive?

As such, you’ve got a choice of five drive modes to pick from: Sport, Sport+, Track, Wet and Individual, with Sport serving as the default profile. This means that no, there isn’t a “Comfort” or “Tour” mode, with the “Wet” profile being the most restrained. For something that could conceivably be used as a very special daily (or at least frequent) transportation, the suspension and ride of the Vantage Roadster is quite stiff; composure over bumps, pavement breaks and expansion joints are just the wrong side of harsh. That’s excusable for a coupe, but a roadster is almost always used as more of a cruiser than cruise missile even if the capabilities are only slightly diminished from its fixed-roof counterpart.

Ah, well. Suffer for beauty, I suppose — only there’s hardly any suffering here. It’s just a bit flinty for frequent use, and I expect for some, this might make the whole endeavor that much more distinct and special. And special it is; roof or no roof, character oozes from the carbon pores of the Vantage Roadster like molten treacle. That dynamite engine shouts on a spectrum between a grumble and a guttural roar, sounding every bit of that mad AMG heart with some clear sonal tuning from Aston that prioritizes buttery notes over metallic gnash.

Wedge that dual-mode exhaust open and send it down your favorite road to spook birds and frenzy dogs three counties over. Do make sure you’ve got plenty of room, however, as you’re going to find yourself scrambling from Point A to, well, Point Oh Crap in no time. Aston cites 3.5 seconds for the 0-60 mph time, and it felt every bit of that on the tight, squiggling canyon roads deep in Southern California’s San Jacinto Mountains.aston martin vantage roadster 2026 03 exterior front jpg2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, front | Cars.com photo by Conner Golden

How Much Does the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Weigh?

Considering the prevalence of heavy EVs these days, the Vantage Roadster’s 3,670-pound curb weight is reasonable if not still a bit porkish, with 132 pounds of it due to the droptop’s additional structural reinforcements. But weight only matters if you can feel it, and the Roadster — and coupe, by extension — is impressively sharp and disconcertingly agile considering both that on-paper figure and those comically swollen haunches.

Steering is both quick and on the lighter side, but there’s enough granularity and tactility to offset any artificialness. Steering and braking inputs are progressive, with a strong stamp to those massive (and optional) 16-inch front and 14-inch rear carbon-ceramic brakes shedding speed like hitting a mound of anvils. Grip is both tremendous and entirely expected thanks to the Aston-specific Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 AML tires cut to P275/35R21 in the front and a steamroller-wide P325/30R21 in the rear.

It’s a confident car at speed, with plenty of that grip to lean on while nursing the rather touchy accelerator pedal. In the canyons, I preferred Sport+ to Track for managing the drivetrain and keeping the chassis at least modestly more inline versus the Track traction setting. If you’re braver (or stupider) than I am, go ahead and futz with the Vantage’s eight-level traction control system for either max coddling or swooping, smoky drifts.

How Much Does the 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Cost?

For what is now the most affordable new Aston, the 2026 Vantage and Vantage Roadster are beyond impressive for fit, finish, style, theater and performance, and they should absolutely dash any preconceived notions you might have of the brand whether this is your first or fifth sled.

Massive improvements come with a massive price: As of this writing, a 2026 Vantage Roadster will set you back no less than $205,900, or roughly $20,000 more than a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS cabriolet and ‘bout $7,500 short of a 911 Turbo cabriolet. It’s also around $80,000 more than a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible, and while the Aston is more characterful and “special” than those Porsches, it’s a leather-lined moonshot away from the Z06 in fit, finish and presentation.

Hell of a redux, Aston. If the standard Vantage is this thrilling, I can’t imagine how nutso the (surely) forthcoming Vantage V-12 will be. Gimme a ring when that comes around, all right?

2025 Toyota Sienna Review: It’s What’s Inside That Counts

Is the Toyota Sienna a Good Minivan?

  • The 2025 Toyota Sienna is a good minivan with ample passenger space, a standard hybrid powertrain and available all-wheel drive. Updates for 2025 have improved the Sienna on the tech front, but it still falls behind its competitors in that department.

How Does the Toyota Sienna Compare With Other Minivans?

  • The remaining minivans on sale today are all pretty good, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. That means the Sienna compares very favorably — in some areas. If having the latest and greatest technology is a must for you, you should probably skip the Sienna; if saving money on gas matters more, the Sienna belongs at the top of your list.

This generation of the Toyota Sienna minivan has been around since the 2021 model year. For 2025, Toyota updated the Sienna’s safety and convenience technology, and it threw in some available family-friendly features. These include a built-in vacuum and a FridgeBox, which is a small insulated compartment that can act as a refrigerator or freezer.

For this review, I drove a 2025 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition, which sits alongside the Limited trim level in the Sienna lineup and below the range-topping Platinum. Its as-tested price was $54,490 (all prices include destination fee).

Minivans were once the vehicle of choice for families, but they’ve largely been supplanted by SUVs. Perhaps this “rugged,” updated 2025 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition might convince shoppers to consider a minivan once again?

What Is the Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition?

Toyota introduced the Sienna’s Woodland Edition for the 2022 model year. At that time, some automakers began selling “outdoorsy” versions of their vehicles, aimed at buyers looking to get outside to escape pandemic doldrums. The Sienna minivan was no exception.

For 2025, the Woodland Edition starts at $51,875, which is slightly more than a Limited variant but nearly $6,000 less than the starting price of a loaded Platinum version.

With 6.9 inches of ground clearance — a bit more than the regular Sienna’s 6.3 inches — the Woodland Edition can go a little farther down unpaved roads, but the difference doesn’t seem to be meaningful. Standard all-wheel drive helps more; other Sienna trims come standard with front-wheel drive and make AWD available, but the Woodland Edition is AWD-only. Other Woodland Edition features include all-weather floor and cargo mats with a pine tree motif, an integrated trailer hitch, and roof rails with crossbars. New 18-inch, six-spoke dark-alloy wheels complete the look.

Most of the impressions from our 2024 Toyota Sienna review apply to this trim level, as well. The standard hybrid powertrain makes 245 horsepower, and it’s adequate for around-town and highway driving. It’s fuel efficiency, however, that’s the primary reason to choose a Sienna. Even with Kia’s Carnival minivan adding a hybrid variant for 2025, the Sienna retains the gas-mileage crown in the minivan segment. (Note that the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid earns an EPA-estimated 82 mpg-equivalent combined during its 32-mile all-electric range, but it gets 30 mpg combined with the gas engine in play).

EPA-Estimated Gas Mileage of 2025 Minivans

  • Toyota Sienna, FWD: 36 mpg combined
  • Toyota Sienna, AWD: 35 mpg
  • Kia Carnival Hybrid, FWD: 33 mpg
  • Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, FWD: 30 mpg (when the battery is depleted)
  • Chrysler Pacifica, FWD: 22 mpg
  • Chrysler Voyager, FWD: 22 mpg
  • Honda Odyssey, FWD: 22 mpg
  • Kia Carnival, FWD: 21 mpg
  • Chrysler Pacifica, AWD: 20 mpg

Part of the price you pay for the Sienna’s efficiency, however, is noise: When the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is running, it makes quite a racket.

Like the drivetrain’s horsepower rating, the Sienna’s steering and handling are just adequate. Ride comfort at least is quite good with the Woodland Edition’s slightly higher-riding suspension and 18-inch wheels.

1 / 302025 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition | Cars.com photo by Christian Lantry

The Sienna is comfortable and spacious inside, as one would expect from a minivan. The front seats are comfortable, and there’s ample storage space for both small and large items. The new, larger available 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is a vast improvement over the previous system, but it has the same flaws we’ve seen throughout Toyota’s lineup: no home screen and lots of connectivity-based features. Even with the new, larger screen, the Sienna still ranks in the lower tier of touchscreen displays available in minivans. There’s no home screen, for example, and both the Kia Carnival and Chrysler Pacifica have better graphics and more intuitive controls. The Sienna’s screen is better than the dated one in the Honda Odyssey, at least.

What’s more, this minivan’s only USB data port is still USB-A, which feels silly when it could have been USB-C. Yes, the new infotainment system has standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but I’ve had enough problems with wireless CarPlay connectivity across many vehicles to be in the habit of carrying a backup USB cable just in case — and I’m running out of the increasingly archaic USB-A ones. Also annoying: With the exception of Park, the gear selector lever’s positions don’t visually line up with the gear indicators, which feels cheap and flimsy. Every time I put the Sienna in Drive, I thought I’d broken it.

Visibility issues also popped up unexpectedly. Forward visibility is mostly good, but the available integrated dashcam mounted beside the rearview mirror eats some of your view out front; it took some getting used to. (It’s also a $375 option, which feels pricey for a dashcam but might give some owners peace of mind.) Side visibility is good, with no excessively large blind spots, but the rear window is surprisingly small and easily obstructed by head restraints, hampering rear visibility.

Headroom could be better in the second row, but there’s plenty of room for adults and children. With the available super-long-slide second-row seats moved rearward, there’s enough legroom to rival some executive rear-seat arrangements in luxury cars. Both my wife and I, however, found the sliding-door opening to the second row to be narrow, and that was amplified when those long-slide seats were moved farther back. It made loading our son into his rear-facing car seat annoying — we had to maneuver him around the door and back, then into his seat. Even so, Toyota’s available hands-free power-sliding doors are a great feature (especially if you have a particularly wiggly toddler in your arms), and the Sienna’s icon showing where your foot goes to open them makes them easy to work on the first try.

All of that said, what I think really makes the Woodland Edition shine as a family vehicle are, of all things, its all-weather floormats. They’re meant to support a more active, outdoorsy lifestyle, but as a parent and pet owner, those easily washable mats on the floors and cargo area are a perfect solution to the inevitable messes life throws my way.

I did not get to test the vacuum or FridgeBox, as they’re not available on the Woodland Edition. They’re available as an optional accessory on the Limited and standard on the loaded Platinum version, the latter of which starts nearly $6,000 higher than the Woodland Edition. You do get lots of other things for that extra money — nicer upholstery, for example — but if you’re considering a Sienna Platinum solely for the vacuum and FridgeBox, you can probably find two similar accessories for significantly less than $6,000.

Is the 2025 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition Worth It?

As a staunch believer in minivan supremacy, I’m inclined to say yes. The Sienna is roomier and more efficient than most similarly priced SUVs, and the Woodland Edition almost looks kind of cool? Or at least as cool as a minivan can look. It’s really what’s inside that counts, though, and the Sienna is great at schlepping people. And with a price in the low-to-mid-$50,000 range, the Sienna Woodland Edition is priced in the neighborhood of higher trims of popular three-row SUVs like the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride, but it offers better family-hauling utility — and isn’t that the point of a three-row vehicle?

2026 Genesis GV70 Review: Small Changes, Still Good

By Brian Normile

2026 Genesis GV70 | Cars.com photo by Brian Normile

Is the Genesis GV70 a Good Luxury SUV?

  • The updated 2026 Genesis GV70 doesn’t do much to mess with an already successful formula. It pairs a luxurious interior with driving fun that may be second only to the G70 sedan in Genesis’ lineup.

How Does the Genesis GV70 Compare With Other Luxury SUVs?

  • In its most powerful and best-equipped 3.5T Sport Prestige guise, the 2026 GV70 is competitive with the likes of the Audi SQ5, BMW X3 M50 and Mercedes-AMG GLC43 in terms of interior quality and space, performance and pricing.

For automakers, updating the bestselling vehicle in their lineup is a risky proposition — especially in the case of the Genesis GV70, which represents more than a third of all Genesis vehicles sold in 2024 (and that’s not counting the Electrified GV70, either). It’s not surprising, then, that the updated 2026 GV70 is nearly indistinguishable from previous model years in both looks and performance. That’s not to say it’s identical; rather, many of the changes are subtle refinements under the skin.

I traveled to Houston recently to sample the new 2026 GV70 and see if it’s just as good as it was when it debuted as a 2022 model (per Cars.com’s ethics policy, we pay for all travel and lodging when attending such manufacturer-sponsored events).

I only got to sample the finest vintage of 2026 GV70 — the fully loaded 3.5T Sport Prestige. This gets you a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 375 horsepower and 391 pounds-feet of torque; that’s exactly what the previous GV70’s 3.5-liter V-6 made. The results are about the same, too. There’s some lag between stepping on the accelerator pedal and actual acceleration, but the lag time can be shortened by changing the drive mode. Sport Plus provides the sharpest response, while Eco has the most relaxed. A customizable My Mode lets drivers pick and choose from multiple powertrain, steering and suspension settings to dial in the driving experience to their liking.

Suspension updates and refinements both physical (like new hydro bushings) and technological (like revised body control software) combine to create a smoother and more comfortable ride, according to Genesis. After driving it around the Houston area, I would say the 2026 GV70 is comfortable enough for a sporty compact SUV, but without driving it back to back with the previous generation, I can’t say it’s noticeably more comfortable. Similar enhancements to noise reduction should also make for a quieter ride — and, again, this GV70 does a good job of minimizing road, wind and tire noise, though how much better it is than before is nebulous. I did complain about the 21-inch wheels on the previous generation producing impact harshness but didn’t notice a glaring amount of that on this drive, so there’s at least one verifiable improvement in the driving experience.

Genesis also updated the steering for improved heft and feel, and to reduce “road-induced feedback.” It also gave the Sport variants a new flatter-bottomed steering wheel. This is another instance of incrementally improving what was already a strength, but the sharp and communicative steering certainly adds to the fun and makes the GV70 feel close to the sporty G70 sedan in terms of performance.

New selectable terrain-specific driving modes are one of the most obvious changes to the GV70. The Snow mode feels like the most useful to the broadest range of drivers, but Mud and Sand seem likely to go unused. If you’re taking your GV70 off-road, you’ve likely taken a wrong turn.

Inside the GV70, the elliptical design elements are still present, but they contrast with the new 27-inch organic light-emitting diode display that’s used for both the digital instrument panel and the center touchscreen. It sits atop the dash and is glaringly rectangular, distracting from the rounded shapes throughout the cabin. The graphics themselves are crisp, the software is responsive, and the menus and controls are intuitive. However, I’m not a big fan of the flat-panel gauge cluster design, and the steering wheel can block elements of it depending on its position and the driver’s seating position, but at least the whole thing might impress technophiles.

Interior materials quality is excellent in the front and rear seating areas, and almost as important, it can be fun. The showpiece interior for the 2026 GV70 is Ultramarine Blue upholstery with orange stitching and seat belts, but the Sevilla Red and Obsidian Black interior I spent most of my time in was just as gorgeous — and maybe about as understated as a bright-red Nappa leather interior can be.

The backseat is still cramped, with minimal legroom and headroom, and carrying four adults in the car will likely require some negotiation when it comes to the position of the front seats. The lack of rear legroom is made worse by the hard plastic backs of the front seats, which are not forgiving when your knees smack into them. The backseat does at least recline for improved comfort, but that’s a small mercy.

Is the 2026 Genesis GV70 Worth Its Price?

Unlike the G70, the GV70 was never as much of a bargain compared with its mostly German rivals. But this iteration feels even more refined and equal to what’s sold by more storied luxury brands, so a comparable price isn’t a deal breaker. That’s good because the 3.5T Sport Prestige crests the $70,000 mark, which is a lot to swallow for a fairly small SUV, even if it is fun to drive. Where the GV70 still falls short — for now, anyway — is in the lack of a true high-performance variant like the Mercedes-AMG GLC63.

Previously, I wrote that the then all-new 2022 GV70 “should absolutely be on every luxury compact SUV shopper’s list.” The 2026 GV70 should, as well, but it might need to be closer to the top.
